Emberside: Small Groups
Emberside: Small Groups prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and any sexualisation of a minor, anywhere in the app. There is no exception and no tolerance for it.
Emberside is a private tool for church small groups, published by Wayfarers Digital LLC. It has no public feed, no stranger matching and no discovery — you are in a group because a leader gave you a code. That narrows the risk. It does not remove our obligation, and this page is what we hold ourselves to.
In any prayer request, message, gathering note, pinned link, group name or profile:
This applies to every account, including group leaders and church administrators. Standing in a congregation is not a defence and does not slow anything down.
In the app: Settings, then Report a safety concern. Anyone with an account can use it. You do not have to be a leader, and you do not have to be in the group concerned.
By email: write to safety@wayfarersdigital.com. You do not need an Emberside account to do this.
If an explicit image of you was shared when you were under 18: NCMEC's Take It Down (takeitdown.ncmec.org) is free and needs no account. It makes a fingerprint of the picture on your own phone and sends only that, so nobody — including us — sees the picture, and participating platforms remove matches. It is yours to do, privately; you do not have to tell us anything. The same route is in the app, under Report a safety concern.
Tell us what you saw and where — the group, and roughly when. Please do not attach or forward the material itself. Passing it on can be an offence in itself, and we do not need it in order to act.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for that.
Every report a person sends us is read by trained staff and acted on within 24 hours. Where we find CSAE we remove the content, terminate the account, and preserve what the law requires us to preserve.
We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which forwards to law enforcement in the relevant country, and we comply with lawful requests from national and regional authorities. Wayfarers Digital LLC is a United States company, and NCMEC is the reporting route that applies to us.
Emberside does not scan private messages or prayer requests. A group writes about illness, marriages and addiction, and reading that in bulk would be its own harm. We act on what people report to us, which is why the reporting route above is the part that matters.
